Magnetic paint is specialist paint that contains magnetite a form of metal powder that once painted onto a surface like a wall it will attract magnets.

Magnetic paint works by effectively spreading a layer or multiple layers of liquid metal magnetite onto a surface like a wall. With three layers or coats of our magnetic paint the liquid metal builds up to become a surface that is highly attractive to magnets almost like a metal sheet. Magnets will bond to the surface

Smart Magnetic Paint can be applied by roller or spray onto any smooth surface. Once dry, the surface can be painted with the color of your choice. Step 1 Prepare the surface by filling any defects with decorators filler and sanding smooth. Step 2 Stir the magnetic paint and apply a smooth even coat with a smooth roller. Once the first coat is dry lightly sand the surface and then apply the second coat and once its dry lightly sand again. Then apply the final coat of magnetic paint. It is possible to apply additional coats if you wish. You can paint over your magnetic paint with any water based paint or color. Smart Magnetic Paint can be applied to almost any smooth surface. For best results, sand and fill areas as required.

In most cases, your magnetic paint should not need to be thinned. From time to time, during transportation, the magnetic paint can settle. So stir it first and then if you need to thin the paint add 5 - 10% water to the tin and stir in thoroughly.

Only very absorbent surfaces should be treated with a primer before application.

Primers help give a surface a smooth finish and will hide the black color (due to the magnetic particles) of our magnetic paint.

Yes, ensure that the surface is smooth before application, fill any holes with a filler, and then apply Smart Magnetic Paint followed by the primer and whiteboard paint. Sand lightly after each coat of magnetic paint and primer.

Magnetic surfaces are typically used for planning, scheduling, posting, brainstorming, magnetic notice boards, magnetic walls plus lots more. For best results, we recommend using neodymium magnets or strong rare earth magnets with your smart magnetic surface.

Gloves should be used when applying all Smarter Surfaces products. In addition, safety glasses should be worn. As with any painting process, ensure the room is ventilated.

No, WIFI works as normal when surrounded by our magnetic paints and plaster.

No, the magnetic field produced by this type of paint is not strong enough to interfere with the normal functioning of pacemakers or other medical devices. Pacemakers are designed to be highly resilient to common environmental factors, including magnetic fields.

Yes, our paint works as usual when situated near heaters.

Yes, magnetic paint from Smarter Surfaces is very safe it is waterbased, solvent free, and very low VOC, PFOA & PFOS free and Isocyanate free unlike some other magnetic paints that are available always check for these items before purchasing any magnetic paint. This means that magnetic paint from Smarter Surfaces can be applied in a DIY or professional setting.

You can clean tools or spillages with water.

Our magnetic products include Smart Magnetic Paint (50% magnetite), Super Magnetic Paint (60% magnetite) and Smart Magnetic Plaster (75% magnetite).Due to the magnetic particles, magnetic paint is black in color. However you can achieve the color of your choice by painting over the magnetic coating with normal paint. We recommend applying a white water based primer (such as Smart White Primer) before applying your desired color.Alternately install a wallpaper or graphic sticker with design of your choice, on top of magnetic paint. We recommend you choose a thin or lightweight product to go on top of our magnetic paint, as a thicker / deeper topcoat might affect magnetic performance. If you wish to hang heavier materials like digital prints or fabrics use our Super Magnetic Paint or Magnetic Plaster
