    • How To Apply Projector Paint

      You can apply any of our Projector Paints using a brush, a roller or a spray. Apply Projector Paint or Projector Paint Pro over a white primed or previously coated white surface. Roller application with a smooth roller such as mohair or foam is recommended.

    • Priming & Sealing

      Do I need to prime the surface before applying Smart Projector Paints?

      We recommend applying Smart Projector Paints onto a previously primed or painted surface. If applying onto an uncoated surface, use a white water based primer, such as Smart White Primer, to prepare the surface with two coats.

    • Suitable Surfaces

      What surfaces can Smart Projector Paints be applied to?

      Smart Projector Paints are suitable for use on plaster, wall boards, wood, metal, concrete, glass and plastic. It is essential to prime the surface first with Smart White Primer or any good quality water based white primer when applying Smart Projector Paint or Smart Projector Paint Pro. For indoor use only.

      Once applied to your wall, our Projector Paints are ready for use as a projection surface. Simply set up your projector as needed and aim towards the painted wall. Smart Projector Paints can be used with most projectors, including interactive projectors.

      Can Smart Projector Paints be used to create a whiteboard surface?

      What is the gain value of Smarter Surfaces projection paints?

      The gain value of Smart Projector Paints are as follows.
      Smart Projector Paint Pro has a gain value of 1.1 at a viewing angle of 140. It is our best performing projection product.
      Smart Projector Paint has a gain value of 1.0 at a viewing angle of 140.
      Smart Projector Paint Contrast has a gain value of 0.1 at a viewing angle of 120.

      What is gain value?

      Gain is a measurement of the reflectivity of any screen or projection surface. The gain number represents a ratio of the light that is reflected from the surface as compared to a whiteboard - 1.0 represents the measurement of a regular whiteboard.
      Choose a higher gain value projection surface for brighter rooms with narrow viewing angle – for example conference rooms and classrooms. Avoid the issues of hotspotting and colour shifts by not exceeding a 1.3 gain value.
      Choose a lower gain value projection surface to create a home theatre effect in a darkened room. Grey projection surfaces tend to have lower gain values and higher light contrast ratings.

      With Smart Projector Paint Pro and Smart Projector Paint, we recommend using reduced ambient lighting.
      With Smart Projector Paint Contrast, we recommend using low ambient lighting.

      How much light do Smart Projector Paints reflect at an angle of 90 degrees?

      Smart Projector Paint Pro reflects 7.8mW.
      Smart Projector Paint reflects 7.4mW.
      Smart Projector Paint Contrast reflects 1mW.

      Are there different sizes available?

      Smart Projector Paints are available in 750ml tins and will cover an area of 6 sq. metres with two coats.
      Smart Projector Paint Contrast is available in a two tin system, a base coat and a top coat. Both tins are 750ml and each will cover an area of 6 sq. metres with 4 coats ( 2 coats of base coat and 2 coats of top coat)

      What is the best colour to paint walls for projection?

      Projector Paint Pro and Projector Paint are available in white (RAL 9003) and after application the wall will have a white finish.
      Smart Projector Paint Contrast is available in dark grey (RAL 7046) and after application the wall will have a dark grey finish making the paint ideal for a home cinema screen or dimly lit rooms.

      Smart Projector Paint Pro and Smart Projector Paint come ready to use in a 750ml tin. Each tin covers an area of 6m² with two coats.


      Smart Projector Paint Contrast comes in a two tin system, one base coat and one top coat. Each comes ready to use in a 750ml tin and each tin covers an area of 6m² with two coats. Both tins must be installed in order for your surface to work correctly.
